The Tram Depot in Clapton, East London, is our historic Victorian horse-drawn tram hub dating back to 1873. Originally built for the North Metropolitan Tramways Company, this architectural gem survived decades of demolition threats thanks to community conservation efforts. Located just steps from Clapton Station, the site is celebrated for its classical industrial design, featuring iconic double-height gabled roofs, horse stables, cast-iron colonnades, and original cobblestone courtyards. Today, the estate is undergoing a comprehensive heritage-led regeneration to become a thriving creative neighborhood. It houses popular local anchors like the BLOK gym alongside 34 independent business units for artisans, makers, and independent brands. The complex also serves as a premier destination for creative industries, offering stunning event and film location spaces—such as the massive, raw Industrial Warehouse and the lush, plant-filled Clapton Tram studio—blending deep transport history with modern East London creativity.
