Set within more than half an acre of grounds beside the River Thames in Putney, our Winchester House offers a distinctive historic setting for private, corporate and celebratory events. Our traditional club building dates from the nineteenth century and combines period character with spacious gardens and attractive riverside views. The Ballroom is our principal event space, providing a bright setting with large windows overlooking the garden and Thames. Alongside it, our Bar and Library provide useful supporting spaces for receptions, conversations and smaller gatherings. Outside, our River Garden and lawns offer opportunities for garden parties, drinks receptions, photography and marquees. We welcome weddings and civil ceremonies as well as corporate meetings, away days, summer parties, Christmas events and private celebrations. Our venue hire includes an event coordinator, while clients can bring their own suppliers or choose from our recommended catering, production, entertainment and photography partners. The riverside setting also makes us particularly attractive for outdoor receptions and Boat Race events.
Our main first-floor event room provides views towards the River Thames and Putney riverside. Large windows bring natural light into the space, which accommodates up to 150 standing, 100 for dinner or theatre seating and 70 cabaret-style.
Our Bar sits directly off the Ballroom and provides a relaxed supporting area with seating, poseur tables and large windows overlooking the garden and River Thames. It works naturally for drinks, networking and informal conversations.
Our Library opens directly onto the garden and provides a more intimate setting alongside outdoor receptions. It works particularly well as a supporting room for garden parties, cocktail receptions and smaller gatherings.
Our Reading Room provides a quieter, more intimate part of the house for smaller conversations and gatherings. Its historic character makes it suitable for private discussions, informal meetings and intimate event activities.
Our riverside garden and lawns provide an attractive outdoor setting with views across the Thames. The grounds can accommodate marquees and garden receptions, while the lawns also provide space for drinks, canapés and photography.
