The Old Swan Hotel is a historic Victorian hotel and major conference and events venue located on Swan Road in the centre of Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Built in 1840, we combine traditional character with modern conference facilities and are conveniently positioned within walking distance of the Harrogate International Centre, railway station, town-centre shops and restaurants. We offer 136 bedrooms and approximately 10 meeting and event rooms, giving us considerable flexibility for conferences, meetings, weddings, exhibitions, private parties and association events. Our spaces range from smaller rooms for intimate meetings to large combined suites capable of accommodating several hundred guests. For private events, our Garden Room and Ballroom can be combined to accommodate up to 330 guests, with facilities for a dance floor and stage. We also provide smaller rooms suitable for intimate celebrations and gatherings of approximately 10–50 guests. Our corporate facilities include Wi-Fi, audiovisual equipment, catering and a dedicated conference and banqueting team. Our landscaped gardens and private grounds also provide attractive options for receptions, barbecues, team-building activities and outdoor events. With our central Harrogate location, extensive accommodation, flexible event spaces and established conference and banqueting facilities, we are particularly well suited to large conferences, weddings, association meetings, corporate events and private functions.
This is the hotel's largest combined event configuration. The current official capacity table gives 700 theatre, 200 classroom, 240 cabaret, 750 reception and 380 dinner dance. The hotel markets the combined space for large-scale functions and weddings, although its wedding page gives a more conservative 330 guests for the combined space.
The Garden Room is a large, naturally lit ground-floor function space. The official specification gives 300 theatre, 100 classroom, 120 cabaret, 50 U-shape, 50 boardroom and 450 reception.
The Ballroom is a substantial event room capable of 300 theatre, 120 classroom, 110 cabaret, 50 U-shape, 50 boardroom, 300 reception and 140 dinner dance.
The Wedgwood Room is a distinctive space with a large glass ceiling. The official table gives 500 reception and 220 dinner-dance capacity, while some external sources describe it as the hotel's largest conference/event space.
The Red Lounge provides a more intimate event setting, with published capacity of 90 theatre, 50 classroom, 50 cabaret, 30 U-shape, 30 boardroom and 100 reception.
The Rose Room is another medium-sized function space with 90 theatre, 50 classroom, 50 cabaret, 30 U-shape, 30 boardroom and 100 reception capacity.
The Library Room accommodates 20 theatre, 12 U-shape, 15 boardroom and 60 reception, making it suitable for intimate meetings and private events.
The Library Lounge is the smallest listed space, with 8 boardroom, 20 reception and 10 dinner-dance capacity.
The Foxhunter Suite has 50 theatre, 30 classroom, 35 cabaret, 20 U-shape, 25 boardroom and 50 reception capacity.
The Penthouse is a smaller first-floor space with a 20-person boardroom capacity. It has natural daylight and is particularly suited to executive meetings and smaller corporate gatherings.
The Bramham Suite provides 30 theatre, 20 classroom, 20 cabaret, 10 U-shape, 15 boardroom and 50 reception capacity.
