Newcastle Cathedral

@sskcgb

Newcastle Cathedral is a historic Church of England cathedral located in St Nicholas Square in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. The cathedral provides an atmospheric and distinctive alternative to conventional conference and event venues, combining historic architecture, vaulted ceilings, monumental columns and a central city location. Its venue-hire programme is designed to accommodate a range of community, cultural, corporate and private events. The Nave is the cathedral's principal and largest event area. With its high vaulted ceiling and historic surroundings, it is particularly suited to large gatherings, conferences and performances. The cathedral states that the Nave can accommodate hundreds of guests, although the precise capacity depends on seating and event requirements. Smaller events can use the chapels and transepts, which can accommodate approximately 50 people. Cathedral Hall provides additional modern space. Café 16 within the hall can accommodate approximately 40 guests and is suitable for casual meetings, social events and receptions. Upstairs, the Education Room and Icon Room provide smaller spaces for workshops, meetings and community activities, each accommodating approximately 20 people. The cathedral also has accessibility features including a hearing loop in the Nave and Quire. Its central Newcastle location and distinctive heritage character make it particularly attractive for concerts, conferences, performances, cultural events, exhibitions and memorable private functions.
