Harrogate Theatre

Harrogate Theatre is one of North Yorkshire's historic performing-arts venues, occupying a prominent position on Oxford Street in the centre of Harrogate. Opened in 1900 as the Grand Opera House, the Victorian building retains significant period character and has developed into a major cultural venue serving Harrogate and the wider Yorkshire region. The theatre presents a broad programme encompassing drama, comedy, music, dance, family entertainment, musical theatre and community productions. The venue contains two purpose-built performance spaces. The Main House is the principal auditorium, with seating for approximately 500 people distributed across three levels. It provides the traditional theatre environment for larger productions, touring shows, concerts, comedy performances, pantomimes, dance and community productions. The Harrogate Studio Theatre is the smaller and more flexible performance space, with an audience capacity of up to 60. It is used for more intimate productions and community performances. The theatre's technical documentation confirms that the Studio has its own technical facilities, dressing/green-room provision and Wi-Fi. Harrogate Theatre also provides substantial production infrastructure, including technical support, lighting equipment, rigging facilities, dressing rooms, wardrobe and laundry facilities. The venue's Main House has six dressing rooms plus a band/chorus room, while the Studio has a dedicated dressing/green room.
