Cecil Sharp House combines a strong musical heritage with flexible spaces for a wide range of events. Our Grade II listed building has been home to the English Folk Dance and Song Society since 1930 and remains closely connected with folk music, dance and the wider arts. Our principal space, Kennedy Hall, features a sprung wooden floor, natural light, chandeliers and the striking Ivon Hitchens mural, while our other rooms provide practical options for meetings, workshops, rehearsals, conferences and smaller gatherings. We also offer access to a private walled garden, on-site catering, Wi-Fi, furniture and AV support. Our venue is fully accessible, with lift access to all floors, accessible toilets and hearing loops in Kennedy and Trefusis Halls. Whether you are planning a performance, conference, wedding, rehearsal, private party or creative production, our combination of character, adaptable rooms and experienced staff allows us to accommodate different event requirements.
Kennedy Hall is our principal event space, covering 252 square metres with a sprung wooden floor, natural light, chandeliers and the Ivon Hitchens mural. We accommodate up to 380 theatre-style or 200 dining guests, with staging, lighting, piano and AV available.
Trefusis Hall gives you a flexible space for conferences, concerts, dances, rehearsals, training and banquets. Our sprung floor, mirrored wall, piano and direct access to the walled garden make it particularly adaptable for creative and social events.
Storrow Hall provides a smaller setting for groups of up to 50. We use the room for rehearsals, workshops, classes, meetings, auditions and parties, with a sprung wooden floor, ventilation, café access and AV available on request.
Karpeles Studio is our bright 60-person studio with a Harlequin sprung floor. We use the space for mid-sized dance rehearsals, conferences, presentations and intimate social functions, with café access, lift access and optional AV equipment.
Butterworth Studio is a compact 30-person space suited to meetings, musical rehearsals, read-throughs and auditions. We provide fresh-air ventilation, a sprung wooden floor, café access, lift or stair access and AV equipment on request.
Our Committee Room offers a quiet and secure setting for up to 30 people. It works particularly well for meetings, interviews, auditions, classes, workshops and filming, with a lockable door, upright piano and optional AV equipment.
Our Café forms part of the venue-hire offering and provides a useful social and refreshment area alongside the event spaces. It is particularly convenient for guests attending smaller functions, workshops, rehearsals and events using adjacent rooms.
