Event Northumbria is a flexible independent events operation located inside Northumbria Students' Union in Newcastle city centre. Its location on Sandyford Road places it within easy reach of the city centre, Newcastle Central Station and the Metro network. The venue is designed to accommodate a wide range of event formats, from small meetings and training sessions to large conferences, dinners, live entertainment and private celebrations. The venue has several distinct spaces, including Domain, Habita, Reds, Stage 2, Escape, Greenhouse and three training rooms. Capacity varies substantially between them. Domain is the largest space and can accommodate up to 1,000 standing in current listings, while Habita can accommodate up to 500 standing and Reds up to 450 standing. Smaller spaces such as Greenhouse and the training rooms are intended for intimate meetings, workshops and smaller groups. Event Northumbria caters for conferences, weddings, live music, theatre performances, workshops, training days, awards ceremonies, fashion shows, exhibitions, private parties and corporate events. It provides an events-management team, technical support, catering and event equipment. Some spaces also have distinctive features such as dance floors, bars, retractable seating and outdoor terraces.
Domain is the largest and most flexible multipurpose hall inside the venue. It is perfect for massive crowds, hosting everything from live music gigs and club nights to grand gala dinners and fashion shows. The space features a massive stage, top-tier sound systems, and customizable layouts for any grand occasion.
Reds is a dedicated entertainment and party space with raised seating areas overlooking the main dance floor and a large island bar. Its atmosphere makes it especially appropriate for celebrations and live events, although the flexible layout also allows corporate gatherings and smaller conferences. It has substantial AV and sound facilities.
Habita is a large social and event space with leather booth seating, flexible furniture, exposed brickwork and metro-tile detailing. It includes a large heated outdoor terrace that can be used for eating, drinking and dancing. The space is particularly suitable for celebrations, social events and informal corporate functions.
Stage 2 is a flexible theatre-style space with retractable tiered seating on opposite walls. The design allows the room to be reconfigured according to the event, making it suitable for theatre, performances, presentations, conferences and cultural events. Its adaptable seating and stage configuration make it one of the venue's specialist performance spaces.
Escape is a smaller flexible event space suited to receptions, exhibitions and compact gatherings. It is considerably smaller than Domain, Habita and Reds and is therefore better suited to intimate events or as a supporting space alongside a larger conference. Its current published reception capacity is 150 guests.
Greenhouse is one of Event Northumbria's smallest named spaces and is designed for intimate gatherings. It can accommodate approximately 20 people for dining and 25 for reception-style use. Its scale makes it more appropriate for small meetings, private discussions or compact social functions than major conferences or large receptions.
Training Room 1 is a bright, practical meeting room designed for board meetings, training sessions, one-to-ones and small group work. It has Wi-Fi, projection, a flat-screen TV, whiteboard, flipchart and conference-call facilities. It can also be combined operationally with larger Event Northumbria spaces for wider programmes.
Training Room 2 is a smaller meeting and training space within Event Northumbria's group of three training rooms. It is intended for presentations, training sessions, brainstorming and small meetings. Current listings give it a maximum of approximately 15 people, making it the more compact option within the training-room group.
Training Room 3 is the smallest dedicated meeting space identified at Event Northumbria. It is designed for small meetings, private sessions and compact group activities. Its published configurations include boardroom, cabaret, classroom, reception, theatre and U-shape arrangements, giving small groups flexibility despite the room's limited overall size.
