Freemasons' Hall & Club

Freemasons' Hall & Club is a historic masonic and social venue in South Shields, located on Ingham Street close to the town centre. The premises serve as a meeting place for Freemasonry and also have a history of being available for external private and community events. Older venue-hire information classifies it as a medium-sized membership club, with the hall available for conferences, presentations, art exhibitions, tea dances and other events. The venue is therefore different from a conventional hotel or dedicated conference centre. Its principal attraction is the character of a traditional Masonic hall combined with club and hospitality facilities. The available venue information indicates that daytime bookings were normally possible, although the hall was historically occupied by masonic activities on many evenings. The hall has historically been used for a range of community and social activities, including presentations, exhibitions and dances. Its location in central South Shields makes it accessible to local residents and organisations seeking a traditional function-hall environment.
