Malmaison Newcastle is a boutique hotel and event venue located directly on Newcastle's Quayside, with views towards the River Tyne and Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The hotel occupies a striking Grade II-listed former Co-operative Society warehouse and combines its historic character with contemporary accommodation, dining and meeting facilities. It is approximately one mile from Newcastle Central Station and within easy walking distance of the city's major attractions. For events, the hotel currently advertises four principal meeting spaces: Private Dining Room, Château Lounge, Mal One and Mal Two. The spaces cover a broad range of capacities, from the smaller Mal Two, which accommodates up to 15 people theatre-style, to Mal One, which can accommodate up to 80 people for both theatre-style meetings and drinks receptions. Malmaison also caters for weddings, private celebrations, private dining, corporate meetings, conferences, networking and drinks receptions. The hotel has a dedicated events team, catering, Wi-Fi and modern meeting technology. Its Chez Mal Brasserie & Bar provides an additional dining and social environment, although it should not automatically be counted as another dedicated meeting room. The hotel has 122 rooms and suites, making it particularly useful for events where delegates or wedding guests require accommodation. Newcastle City Council also lists Malmaison Newcastle as an approved ceremony venue.
Mal One is the largest of Malmaison Newcastle's dedicated meeting spaces. It is designed for larger corporate meetings, conferences, presentations, receptions and private functions. The room can accommodate up to 80 people theatre-style or for drinks, while its cabaret configuration seats 35 and dinner configuration accommodates 50.
Mal Two is the smallest dedicated meeting room currently listed by Malmaison Newcastle. It is intended for compact business meetings, interviews, training and small group discussions. The current official capacity table gives 15 people theatre-style and 10 people for boardroom or U-shape arrangements.
Perched on the exclusive 7th-floor penthouse, this "rock 'n' roll" lounge features its own private bar. It hosts up to 35 to 50 guests for informal corporate presentations, training days, or stylish drinks receptions boasting the ultimate wow-factor views over the Quayside.
For grand banquets and full-scale celebrations, the entire chic brasserie can be hired exclusively for up to 72 seated guests. It offers a beautifully decadent atmosphere with bold colors, rich textures, and iconic riverfront views, backed by inspired, high-end catering packages.
