Newcastle Castle

@bpkdyc

Newcastle Castle is one of Newcastle upon Tyne's most distinctive historic event venues, occupying the surviving Castle Keep and Black Gate at the heart of the city. The site dates from the medieval period and is closely associated with the origins of Newcastle's name. Today, the Castle is operated by the Heart of the City Partnership and functions both as a heritage attraction and as a venue for corporate, private, wedding, cultural and special events. The venue provides an unusual collection of atmospheric spaces, including the Great Hall, Harbottle Suite, Chapel, Gaol and Keep Roof. The Great Hall is the largest bookable space, offering capacities of up to 90 for standing receptions. The Harbottle Suite, located inside the Black Gate, is particularly suitable for meetings, workshops and wedding ceremonies and is accessible by lift. Events can range from conferences, networking and private dining to weddings, parties, performances, filming and themed events. The venue can also accommodate whole-site hire for particularly large or bespoke occasions. A major advantage is its location beside Newcastle Central Station and within the city centre. However, accessibility differs significantly between spaces: the Black Gate is fully accessible by lift, while upper levels of the Castle Keep involve steep stairs.
