Newcastle University provides a diverse collection of conference, meeting and event spaces across our city-centre campus, combining historic university buildings with modern purpose-built facilities. Our venues range from intimate meeting rooms and classrooms to large auditoriums and exhibition spaces, allowing us to accommodate events of different sizes and formats. We offer some of Newcastle’s most substantial conference facilities, including the 750-seat auditorium at the Frederick Douglass Centre and the 440-seat King’s Hall within the Grade II listed Armstrong Building. Our facilities are supported by standard audiovisual equipment, Wi-Fi, technical assistance, catering and dedicated conference-event support. We can accommodate conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, meetings, networking events, lectures, concerts, graduations and gala dinners. Our central Newcastle location makes the campus convenient for delegates travelling by rail, Metro and road, while our conference team provides assistance with planning, catering, room setup, AV requirements and event logistics. We also offer conference accommodation during designated summer periods for eligible group bookings.
Our King's Hall is an iconic historic event space within the Grade II listed Armstrong Building. We accommodate up to 440 guests and provide an impressive setting for conferences, concerts, exhibitions, ceremonies and major university events.
Our Dame Margaret Barbour Building provides a large lecture theatre with a split-level atrium and multiple classrooms. We accommodate up to 300 delegates, making the building suitable for conferences, lectures and teaching events.
Our Devonshire Building provides a compact suite of two ground-floor meeting rooms, suitable for smaller meetings and boardroom-style events. We also provide an attractive atrium that can support registration and refreshments.
Our Frederick Douglass Centre provides one of our largest and most modern event environments, featuring a 750-seat auditorium, additional lecture theatre and seminar rooms. We offer flexible facilities for major conferences, exhibitions, lectures and international events.
Our Boiler House provides a distinctive event space within Newcastle University, combining industrial character with a versatile setting for meetings, conferences, receptions and social occasions. We offer a memorable environment for events that require something different from a traditional lecture or meeting room, with facilities suitable for a range of layouts and event formats.
Our Lindisfarne Room provides flexible flat-floor space for large conferences and events, accommodating up to 350 delegates. We provide dual-screen projection, sound and voice reinforcement and touchscreen event controls.
Our Curtis Auditorium provides tiered seating for up to 360 delegates with full audiovisual facilities. We also offer an adjoining concourse suitable for catering, drinks receptions and exhibition activity.
Our Old Library Building provides a suite of six classrooms within a central campus location. We also offer two small foyer areas suitable for event registration, refreshments and delegate breaks.
Our Percy Building offers a traditional university setting for smaller conferences and day meetings. We provide two lecture theatres, each accommodating up to 98 delegates, together with three breakout rooms and registration space.
Our Henry Daysh Building provides flexible university event facilities suitable for meetings, conferences, seminars, training sessions and academic gatherings. We offer a practical setting supported by modern presentation facilities and convenient campus amenities.
