The Assembly Rooms is one of Newcastle upon Tyne's most significant historic event venues. The venue is particularly famous for its grand historic Ballroom, ornate Rococo chandeliers and period architectural features. Newcastle City Council's heritage record describes the building as comprising two suites of rooms, with the great ballroom occupying the upper floor. Today, The Assembly Rooms operates as a flexible venue for cultural, corporate and private events. Its current website promotes the building for event hire and lists live performances, festivals and other events taking place throughout 2026. The venue is also marketed for conferences, banquets, weddings, private functions and social occasions. The building's central location makes it particularly convenient for delegates, with Newcastle Central Station and Metro connections within a short walk. The Chandelier Suite is one of The Assembly Rooms' most impressive event spaces. It is a large, light-filled historic room measuring approximately 25.5 metres by 13 metres, with an elegant architectural character suitable for high-end corporate events, weddings, receptions and large private functions. Current venue-hire information gives approximately 350 seated and 400 standing.
