Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel is a prominent Victorian hotel located in the centre of Darlington on Priestgate. The building has a long history and was previously known as the Kings Head Hotel. Following a major fire, the property underwent an extensive restoration in 2012, retaining historic architectural features while introducing contemporary hotel, dining and event facilities. It now contains 83 guestrooms, a restaurant and bar, and dedicated conference and event facilities. The hotel is particularly suitable for business events because it has several dedicated meeting rooms alongside its much larger Kings Ballroom. Current operator information identifies five event spaces in total, while Accor's hotel information describes four meeting rooms plus the ballroom. The venue caters for meetings, conferences, training sessions, corporate events, private functions, weddings and receptions. The Kings Ballroom is the principal large event space, featuring period architectural details including chandeliers and exposed fireplaces. It can be configured for conferences, banquets and wedding celebrations. Smaller events can use the Executive Lounge, The Locomotion and The Pullman, which range from very small boardroom-style meetings to groups of around 20. The hotel also offers Wi-Fi, AV facilities, catering, a bar, restaurant and on-site parking.
