Kielder Observatory

Kielder Observatory gives our visitors and private groups an unforgettable opportunity to experience astronomy beneath some of the darkest skies in Europe. Set within Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, our observatory provides a distinctive environment for private events, educational visits, corporate groups, celebrations and specialist astronomy experiences. We combine our unique location with experienced astronomers, professional telescopes, science talks and hands-on activities to create memorable programmes tailored to each group. Private hire gives guests exclusive use of the observatory and access to our team, equipment and facilities, with observing through our telescopes taking priority whenever conditions allow. During daytime events, we can also offer solar observing when weather permits. Our classroom and audiovisual facilities provide additional flexibility for presentations and group activities, while our team can adapt event content around the interests of each booking. Whether guests are discovering astronomy for the first time or already have a passion for the night sky, we create an engaging experience that connects science, nature and the remarkable darkness of Kielder.
