Hull Minster offers an event setting where centuries of history meet contemporary flexibility in the heart of Hull’s Old Town. As a magnificent medieval Grade I listed building with more than 700 years of history, our Minster provides a memorable alternative to conventional conference centres and hotels, with spaces suited to performances, conferences, exhibitions, receptions and celebrations. Our Nave is the centrepiece for larger occasions, accommodating up to 300 seated or 500 standing guests. Its expansive layout can be transformed for conferences, performances, markets, festivals, banquets and spoken-word events, with modular staging, seating, green rooms and changing facilities available where required. A bar can also be arranged for events. For more intimate occasions, our Chancel accommodates up to 80 seated guests, while the Minster Cafe provides space for 40 seated or 50 standing guests and can be privately hired for parties, networking and business dinners. The Choir Vestry offers a 30-seat meeting or rehearsal space, with additional meeting rooms at Carmelite House. Despite our historic surroundings, modern event technology is firmly part of the experience. Distributed power and data points, professional audio, digital mixing, Dante infrastructure, projection and theatrical lighting support technically demanding productions and presentations.
The Nave is Hull Minster's principal event space and the largest available venue area. Its open medieval interior provides considerable flexibility, allowing organisers to create layouts for conferences, concerts, spoken-word performances, markets, festivals, banquets and receptions. The venue provides modular staging and seating, technical infrastructure, green rooms and changing facilities. The Nave is also fully step-free and wheelchair accessible.
The Chancel provides a more intimate setting within the Minster. Its Victorian pews and chairs and impressive East Window create a distinctive backdrop for performances and talks. The sanctuary can function naturally as a stage, while the Chancel can also be hired as an extension to an event taking place in the Nave.
The Minster Cafe is a modern private-hire space within the historic Minster complex. It can be closed off to provide exclusive use and includes AV equipment, microphones, built-in speakers and television screens. It can be configured for parties, networking events or business dinners, with food ranging from the everyday cafe menu through to three-course dining.
The Choir Vestry is a purpose-built Victorian rehearsal room. Its primary function is supporting musical and choral activities, including rehearsals, workshops and changing. It can also operate as a smaller meeting room for events requiring a private, compact space away from the main Nave.
The Small Meeting Room at Carmelite House is designed for very small-group meetings and discussions. It is one of the most compact spaces associated with Hull Minster and is therefore appropriate where privacy and a focused environment are more important than large capacity. Wi-Fi is available within the Carmelite House meeting-room provision.
The Large Meeting Room at Carmelite House provides a larger alternative to the Small Meeting Room while retaining the more intimate environment of a dedicated meeting space. Both Carmelite House rooms have Wi-Fi and are suitable for smaller group activities that do not require the scale of the Minster's principal spaces.
